Building inclusive workplace cultures that allow employees to feel comfortable with bringing their full selves to work can be hard work in its own right, especially after so many years of a very different status quo.

For Pride Month, we were excited to conduct some research around companies in our industry that are doing that hard work well and leading the charge when it comes to creating safe and inviting workspaces for their LGBTQIA+ staff and candidates. While no workplace is perfect, and there’s still so much more work to be done, below are 10 examples of recruitment/staffing industry companies that stood out from the crowd.

What was our methodology, you ask?

As a bit of a research nerd, I’m happy to share! We looked at companies based on several factors related to diversity, inclusion and LGBTQ+ support—things like Corporate Equality Index (CEI) Ratings; LGBTQIA+ diversity and inclusion policies, practices and initiatives; company ratings and reviews (especially by staff/former employees who identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community); public recognition and awards received for inclusive practices and policies; as well as their involvement in broader LGBTQIA+ community engagement, such as partnerships with, sponsorship of, and/or support demonstrated for relevant community organizations.

…and without further adieu, here’s the list!

Supporting LGBTQ Initiatives: A Team Outing Idea

Consider organizing a team outing to support LGBTQ initiatives. Our team recently celebrated LGBTQ pride by attending a performance of The Lonely Few, a new rock musical. This play, written by LGBTQ playwrights Zoe Sarnak and Rachel Bonds, beautifully narrates a queer love story between two musicians who find love in each other while pursuing their passion for music, and are on a quest to find “home”.

PS – Is there a company you were hoping to see featured on this list? Let us know! It’s not too late for some additional shout-outs, not only during Pride Month, but throughout the year as well.
