👋 Hiya folks! Super Bowl LIX might be over, but the “Super Bowl Flu” is just getting started…

A record-breaking 22.6 million employees were estimated to miss work last Monday, according to UKG Workforce Institute. That’s up from 18.1 million last year – looks like Eagles fans aren’t the only ones celebrating!

Here’s the breakdown:

  • 3.2 million calling in sick
  • 3.2 million ghosting their employers
  • 12.9 million took the day off in advance
  • 4.8 million swapped shifts

And while the Indiana legislature even introduced a bill to make it an official state holiday, about 43% of employees believe it should be nationwide!

Maybe next year we’ll all be rewatching Super Bowl commercials on YouTube instead of checking our sick day balance…

Got questions? Comments? Want to confess how many times you’ve fake called in sick? Hit reply – we’d love to hear from you!

One Thing You Should Know This Week
Randstad USA: The 15 Most In-Demand Roles in 2025

The job market’s getting a major remix. Randstad USA’s latest report reveals that while tech still drives growth, traditional roles are making a surprising comeback. From customer service to skilled trades, opportunities are flourishing in some surprising (and not-so-surprising) industries.

🖼️ The big picture.

The U.S. job market is shifting dramatically, with roles in administration, logistics, and skilled trades emerging as front-runners. Customer service representatives and sales roles top the list, while specialized positions like wind turbine technicians and HR generalists are seeing unprecedented demand.

🧮 By the numbers:

  • Customer service reps average salary range: $37,000-$47,000
  • Sales reps average salary range: $56,000-$68,000
  • Financial analysts average salary range: $87,000-$105,000
  • Electricians average salary range: $60,000-$66,000
  • HR generalists average salary range: $62,000-$90,000

🔍 The green job revolution

Mother Nature is becoming quite the job creator, with green energy roles offering both competitive pay and clear career advancement paths. Wind turbine service technicians lead the pack with a staggering 60.1% projected growth rate, while solar photovoltaic installers follow at 48%. This surge isn’t just about installation and maintenance – it’s creating ripple effects across the supply chain. The Department of Labor projects these roles will command premium salaries as states race to meet ambitious clean energy targets, with specialized technicians potentially earning up to $100,000 annually in high-demand markets.

💊 Healthcare’s hiring spree

With an aging population and evolving healthcare needs, medical professionals are more in demand than ever. Nurse practitioners (46.3% growth) and physician assistants (28.5% growth) are near the top of the list. The report also highlights that healthcare professionals, particularly in specialized roles, can expect competitive compensation packages and numerous opportunities for career advancement.

🎯 What TAs should keep in mind

Your next great hire might come from some unexpected places. Randstad’s report shows that 2025’s talent forecast is blending traditional roles with emerging opportunities – and smart recruiters are already adjusting their strategies.

💰 Money talks

Financial analysts are commanding up to $105,000, while HR generalists are securing between $62,000 and $90,000. That’s valuable intel for your salary discussions, especially when competing for top talent. Plus, it gives you solid data points when coaching hiring managers on competitive offers.

❓So what?

Well, here’s what’s really interesting for your talent pipeline: The most in-demand roles span every level of experience and sector. You’ve got entry-level customer service positions (starting at $37,000) right up to specialized technical roles like field service technicians ($26-34 hourly). This diversity means you can build robust talent communities across multiple verticals – perfect for those clients who need both immediate placements and long-term pipeline development.

💼 What this means for TAs.

Time to get creative with your finance recruitment strategy. With 93% of leaders reporting difficulties finding qualified professionals, traditional hiring approaches might not cut it. Recruiters should consider tapping into retired professional networks, expanding your content talent pipeline, and offering competitive remote/hybrid options. But don’t stop there – build relationships with universities and accounting programs to create early talent pipelines. In this market, your recruitment strategy needs to be as balanced as a perfect ledger.

💡 Pro tip for recruiters: When sourcing for these roles, focus on candidates who bring both technical proficiency and adaptability. The data shows that’s what’s driving demand across all fifteen positions on Randstad’s list.
